Tuesday Reflections

Tomorrow we will have time to continue working on student samples while also collaborating on the development of formative and summative student assessments. We will also begin the morning with a look at an Intel tool for getting at deeper levels of thinking across grades and curriculum. Take a few moments at the end of today to reflect on your personal progress.
Question 1. Are you on track? You should have made progress on the following:
A. Unit Plan
B. Publication sample for students
C. Presentation to introduce the unit to students and gauge student needs
D. An additional student project sample (a presentation, sample wiki, blog, or multimedia project)
E. Assessments to accompany each student product

If you have not made progress on these components, we still have time to tackle this in the next 2 days together.

Question 2. At this point, what student samples have you identified for your project?

Question 3. What individual assistance do you need to reach your goal of completion of the unit plan, student samples and assessments?

Question 1:I am not sure if I am no track...but I think I am.

Question 2: I have made a study guide and a vocabulary sheet and a pre-test for students.

Question 3: I would like to have someone go through what I have done so far to let me know if I am heading in the right direction or if I need to include something I haven't considered yet. I feel a bit disoriented because I'm not here in the mornings and I am not sure what I have missed.

I am getting on track, I think. I have a plan, a template for students to complete as a publication, an introduction, and a blog. I just need time to look, think and work in order to complete my project.-C

1) I feel that I am on track. Items that I still need to work on would be my unit plan and one student sample assessment. I have completed one student sample (Flyer) and assessment. I have also finished an additional student sample (Blog) and a powerpoint.
2) I have created a flyer on Publisher and a rubric (Microsoft Word) to access the student's flyer. I have also finished a blog that students will be able to reflect and brainstorm.
3) I would like to make sure my assessments meet my unit and content questions.

#1 I am on track. I have created a blog site and have begun adding questions. I have also created one student sample and a rubric to assess it. I still need to update my instructional PowerPoint to go along with this unit and create another student sample/project.

#2 At this point I have created a poster project that requires a summary/conversions. This project assesses two of my content questions. I need to create another sample/rubric to assess students for the unit questions.

#3 I need assistance to make sure I have enough information on my unit plan. I also would like to make sure that my projects assess the students knowledge of the unit/content questions.

1. I have made progress on my unit plann. For student publications I have finished the student newsletter for the periodic table and also created a brochure for the element potassium. I have my first day planned out along copies of the materials I am going to use. I still need to work on recording the song we are going to either sing or listen to. I also just put up a Blog students will respond to.
I do NOT have the assessment portion done. I do have rubric for the brochure but nothing for the newsletter yet.

2. Students will create a newsletter and a brochure. They will be creating a 3-D model of an atom as well as 3-D periodic tables to identify trends.

3. I just need time at a computer to work on creating student samples. As far as assessments I will use rubistar to create rubrics and will make my own checklists when necessary.

I think that I'm on track with what I want to do on this unit plan. I have a microsoft publisher activity planned for an assessment evaluation and I have found a web site to use as a center activity. I'm still working on locating or creating a worksheet to accompany some of the activities.

I believe that I am on track with my unit project. My student samples so far are answering questions in a journal, drawing/writing on a food pyramid, and creating a healthy meal by drawing/writing. I need assistance in planning an end of unit assessment that shows understanding of the essential question.

Question 1. On track for the most part.

Question 2. At this point, what student samples have you identified for your project?
I'm working on a newsletter and a power point presentation.

Question 3. What individual assistance do you need to reach your goal of completion of the unit plan, student samples and assessments? Nothing right now but stick around because I'm sure I'll need help. :)

Q1 I think I am on track. I have a general framework and am now in the process of fleshing everything out with activities, student samples, and unit plan.
Q2 Students will have a choice of Powerpoint, brochure, or newsletter. I also want to encorporate a blog or wiki, and am unsure what would be best for my interview application.
Q3 I need help with the blog and wiki. An individual review of what I have done and still what I need to tweak or add would be helpful. The pace seemed much better for me today. I actually got more complete pieces to add to the whole. Thanks, Gayla
